Terms of Use
Check the numbers before you cut
The app is a calculating tool. Building work depends on measurements, materials, local codes and judgment that the app cannot see. Check every result against your plans, the code that applies to your job, and a second method before you cut, order or build from it. You are responsible for how you use the results. Stair, rafter and other results are aids, not engineering or code-compliance advice.
Your license
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on devices you own or control, under these terms and the store's rules. We keep all rights in the app. You may not copy, resell, rent, reverse engineer or change the app, or remove notices from it, except where the law lets you.
Free trial and unlock
- A new install gets a free trial, normally seven days, timed by our service's clock. Changing the phone's clock does not extend it. A school or partner code may set a different length.
- The unlock is a one-time purchase through the App Store or Google Play at the price shown there. It is not a subscription and does not renew. We will keep honoring the unlock for as long as the app is offered. If we ever stop offering it, we will give reasonable notice first.
- Payment, tax and refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their rules, not by us. You can restore a purchase on a new device from the app's unlock screen using the same store account.
- Using tools or tricks to start repeat trials or to get the unlock without paying is not allowed. We may block an install that does.
School and partner codes
A school or class code gives a year of access. A paid crew code gives each person who enters it the same access as the one-time unlock, for as long as the app is offered. A partner code lengthens the free trial. Other codes give the access their issuer describes, for the time it describes. Codes may expire, run out of uses, or be withdrawn if misused. A code has no cash value.
Your data
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect. What you calculate stays on your phone.
No warranty
The app is provided "as is" and "as available". We try to make it accurate and dependable, but we do not promise that it is error-free, always available, or fit for a particular job.
Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, lost profits, lost materials or rework costs, or for damage from using or being unable to use the app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
Ending these terms
You can stop using the app and delete it at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms. The parts that by their nature should survive (disclaimers and limits) do.
Other things
- Not affiliated. The app is independent. It is not made, endorsed or sponsored by any other calculator or tool maker.
- Apple and Google. The stores are not responsible for the app, its support or its content, and Apple and Google are third-party beneficiaries of these terms to the extent their rules say so.
- Changes. We may update these terms. We will change the date above, and continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.
